The 8-Bit Brigade is proud to host the GGN Madden League. Promoting competition and sportmanship, we offer you the opportunity to play against non-douches for your fix of virtual sports glory.
Madden ‘09 has online leagues…kind of like fantasy football, except you play the games in a video game (which is pretty much fantasy football…shut it). Madden online features persistent, real-time stat tracking, win-loss record, playoffs, and a fantasy draft - pretty much everything you could want in an online league.
Because the GGN is FPS-centric, we would like to encourage anyone who plays Madden recreationally to join the league. If you’re a hardcore Madden player and have logged thousands of hours playing online, please look elsewhere. This is a recreational league. All current members of GGN-affiliated clans are welcome to participate.
We will play one abbreviated season with some test pilots to get all the settings correct, then we’ll do a full season. Games are open round-robin and can be played at any time. We will conduct a poll to choose a night or two a week that is convenient for members as designated game nights to help ensure everyone gets a chance to play their games.
Check out this thread on our forum to express your interest or hit up Duster72 or Slitt Vicious on Live.
Thank you to Czar Castic for the banner. Does that mean someone has to be Detroit?

Retro night has been met with mixed success. Some games have taken off. Others, meh. So now, in the eighth month, it’s time to revel in the recent successes of retro night and ignore the not-so-great. All this month, we’re going to revisit the most popular revisitations. Starting Sunday the 3rd through Sunday the 31st, each week’s games will be counting down to your favorites. The schedule will play out as follows:
3rd & 6th: Chromehounds
10th & 13th: Battlestations: Midway
17th & 20th: Rainbow Six: Vegas
24th, 27th and a bonus on the 31st: Shadowrun
The games were chosen by the spotty observation of the attendance and comments of each game’s retro night. If you don’t see your favorite game on the list, don’t worry, everything old is new again.

This weeks Retro game is none other then the game that brought this clan into existence and together. Halo 2 is the game of choice this week. As hard as it will be to remove the awesomeness that is Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, or your game of choice, toss in that Halo 2 disc that has been collecting dust. Journey again with Master Chief before he finishes the fight. Let’s get some down and dirty matchmaking without all of the fancy grenades, weapons and equipment. Time to get back to basics!
Join us if you wish, I’m sure there will be plenty of people playing. We will most likely run in some matchmaking games, that is if we can find people still playing out there in the internets. Otherwise, we’ll fire up some old fashioned custom games and make a fun night of it. If you miss the first event on Wednesday 6/18, don’t fret. Retro nights always come in pairs and the next one will be Sunday 6/22.
Master Chief will be expecting you. Don’t make him wait!

Looks like this week’s retro game is Chromehounds. For those out of the loop, we’re playing it Wednesday and Sunday.
I’ve only played the game a little bit and can’t remember much about it other than that Brik was much deeper in the game than I.
Anyone care to share some tips for us N00bs you’ll be pwning?

Tonight’s Retro Night game is the (in)famous Shadowrun! You know, the game MS released and then immediately fired the entire dev team so they couldn’t attempt to fix any play balance problems or release DLC - yeah that one!
Anyway, the game has bots and crazy powers. I would suggest getting at least 30-45 minutes of practice with the tutorial, because this is not your momma’s shooter.
So, who will be on tonight? Who else has Shadowrun in their pile of shame?
