Hello fellow Good Gamers! Do you long for the days of old? Miss playing Gultch Wars or Neutral Flag? Well you are not alone. You are cordially invited to the first of many Good Game Network Halo 2 nights. On Sunday March 1ST at 8PM Eastern Standard time we will meet and play the game that brought about the Halo community we all know and love. OcR Envy will be the point of contact for the start of the night. If more than one party is needed, we will expand from there. If you do not have him on your friends list you may use the GoodGameNetwork GamerTag to get in contact. Below is a FAQ of sorts that should answer any question you may have. We hope to see you on the fields of Coagulation soon!


Q: What should I do prior to game night to make sure I am ready?

A: It's most likely been awhile since you dusted off the Halo 2 disc. We recommend loading up the game and making sure you have all of the maps downloaded. All Halo 2 map packs are now free of charge so there is no reason not too. We also recommend going into a custom game and loading each map by yourself. This will help decrease load times when in a larger party.


Q: What game types will we be playing? How many people per party will we have?
A: Game types will vary widely. We could play anything from the above mentioned Gultch Wars to something as different as Cat'N'Mouse. We will accept requests from party members; but only provided they have the game settings saved. We will not take time outs to massively change game settings while in the party. We will attempt a few different party sizes so that all game types can be played. The main party will be 8v8.


Q: Do I have to be a member of a GGN community in order to participate?
A: No. Community allies are more than welcome to join. However keep in mind the community which you are allied with will be held responsible for your actions. So be on your best behavior or else face the boot.


Q: What is the stance on glitching?
A: We understand communities all had differing stances on Halo 2 glitching. Super bouncing, BXB, BXR, RRXY are discouraged while in the main party. Any side parties that start will ultimately be up to the party leader. We understand that a "force of habit" scenario may come into play. We except everyone to use their best judgment in these cases. We are all friends here and this is about as far from competitive gaming as it gets.

I have volunteered on behalf of the event to help run parties. So, I'll be on during the event, but you may or may not get to play with me. It sounds like there are going to be multiple parties going for some good old fashioned H2 goodness.

It sounds like you just be online at the time specified and send invite requests to those running parties. Right now, OcR Envy is the single party leader, but I have been tagged as a second party leader. I'm sure if there are more parties needed, other people from GGN clans will be appointed leaders.

As thigns get updated regarding this event, I'll update the first post.

I could probably navigate some of those maps in my sleep, though I forget the names.

The one where we beat Bungie BAD and they accused (jokingly) of modding tanks into the map. The defense is in the "hotel" with maybe four floors and you can run across a beam to the top...yeah, we were good at that map.

Well.. we have two options then.

We can cap my party at 8 people and go into matchmaking and take 4 brigadiers with 4 HmB people. Or, we can start the night with up to 16 people, and do some custom games until the party gets down to a matchmaking size. Anyone that can't get into my party could potentailly get in the other party. I also got the feeling that there was only 2 parties confirmed at this point, at least 2 people that confirmed to OcR Envy that they would run a party. I would hope that more people would run parties, but :shrug:

I've got no issues running a bunch of customs as long as we need to. It might be a lot of fun to do something non traditional and that would allow us to have more people then an 8 limit cap to get into Big Team Battle.

I'm not sure how many people are going to play for the other person hosting a team. But I'll make an update post to OcR Envy by Friday with the people that are playing.

Make sure to RSVP if you are going to play. I dont think Czar has RSVPed.

I'm going to use the RSVP list to give a final headcount of those taking place.

I think at this point, I'm going to run a full lobby of 16 people and play some custom games. I guess I'll have to create a bunch. If anyone wants to give some suggestions, taht would be fine as well. As the night dwindles down, gametype will be adjusted as the numbers change.

Though since it starts at 8pm, I will only be online until 11pm ish or so.

Delete and re-download. I think they patched them via the map download, not a seperate patch.

Please make sure you re-download all the maps for Halo 2 if you have not done so already. Even if you have them downloaded, there have been updates and you'll need to download them again to make sure you don't have any isues when trying to play.

We'll have a pretty full party, so the games will be custom games.. I'll be creating a bunch to run through.. And we'll see a return of one of my favorite game types. ;)

I don't know the full game types...I do know its something like there are 2 Wraiths and all the other vehicles are ghosts and warthogs...Its like a 10 minute long game or so and the wraiths can only splatter people they can't shoot up until like the 2 min mark or 1 min mark. Then they can shoot!

I don't know its silly fun!! You would have to ask a TTL'er the details, I believe they came up with it back in the days....or was it Cavegirls?! Anyways BS Angel should know....

Well it took me a bit to figure out what you might be referring to because "rocket the hill" on Midship isn't a game.
