Do you download songs like Pokemans? Gotta catch ‘em all? Maybe you should buy the new Guitar Hero. Apparently Activision is considering an annual pass for their DLC - you know, you pay less, but you don’t own the songs, and they can take them away at a moment’s notice. I [...]

If this turns out to be one of those silly Zune Pass type subscriptions, you can count me out...that is, if I even buy GH:WT in the first place.

Interesting in theory, but it sounds like you would end up paying for songs you never play. I think Harmonix is doing well in the DLC dept.

Not sure how I feel about this. I think I prefer picking and choosing what I want and being able to keep it, especially now that I have kicked my OCD "must have all DLC!" habit.
I do like the Zune Pass though, since I can listen to a ton of stuff that I wouldn't normally buy, and I'm buying a lot less CDs than I used to. If and when I let the subscription expire, I'd buy the few CDs that I really love and I'd still be saving money.

I agree on the Zune pass.. It lets you listen to a lot more music then normally. I use it as a way to check out a cd before buying it. If I like it enough, I'll usually buy the cd.
Only a small number of things aren't available for free download with the Zune pass, Metallica(go figure), Led Zep and some other stuff. With the Zune pass, if you don't sync at least once a month, you cannot play the songs you downloaded with it. They still take up space on your Zune, but when you try to play them it responds with a message that "there is not a valid license to play this track" or something to that effect and it skips past the song.

Interesting. I sync every day for podcasts, so I haven't run into that.
Personally, I don't think we'll see this proposed subscription service in GH:WT. Maybe in a future GH game, but I have to imagine it would be a technological nightmare to get it working with the existing infrastructures on 360, PS3, and Wii. It'll take a lot of time to get it up and running, methinks.

I stopped my podcasts when I thought they were the cause of my zune program crashing after being open a few minutes.
Now that I reformatted my laptop and the Zune program is stable, I'll probably subscribe back to a few podcasts and sync every couple days.

Canis, what was your problem with Zune crashing????!!!!!
I have been on the phone with MS for like 4 hours trying to figure it out. It occurs when a podcast hits 100% on the download. If I cancel them, the app keeps going...

My issue was the Zune program crashing when it was opened. After a few minutes open, it would give me an error box. I could keep the Zune program up and sync, download, etc by just moving the error box off to the side. If I clicked ok in the error box, it would close the Zune program. All the fixes I found doing a web search didn't work.

FWIW, my Zune software stopped working this morning. I'd try to start it up and it would give me an error dialog about "An error was encountered. Send error report?"
I had to uninstall the Zune software and reinstall it and then it worked again. This may be completely unrelated to what you guys are seeing, but it never hurts to do an uninstall/reinstall.

UGH...it is driving me insane. I'm just going to hate it if they suggest I reformat my computer. I get a message that it has encountered an error and will now close.
Is there a log in Vista where you can see the errors that were created on the system?

That sounds familiar to my error. But my uninstalling the zune software and reinstalling it did not fix it. From what I read, it was related to some .net files and somehow they got corrupt or something. I even reinstalled the latest .net stuff and it still did it.
I just hope it continues to work now that I reformatted my laptop and started fresh. Zune was the last software I installed until I have the need to install anything else.

I uninstalled/reinstalled and also installed the .net update. I'm going to be one the phone again, I'm sure.
