With MS sure to unveil its Mii-toos and motion controls this fall, it is easy to see who Microsoft considers their real competition. This move also [...]

Read this earlier today. Not sure how much of a direct console competition it really is. IMHO both consoles fit different niches.
For me, dropping the Elite down $50 makes it a tiny bit more attractive of an upgrade.

I just want the HDD, but $120-$180 isnt worth it for me.

Why are we not seeing any aftermarket HDDs?

You mean like from MadCatz or Pelican?
Not sure. I wouldn't buy one though. Too many ruined PS1/PS2 from 3rd Party memory cards/controllers. I just don't trust them.

Me too. I really just want the larger HDD, but don't want to pay that much for it. I would rather buy a second console and move my old one to another room. Unfortunately I would need to figure out a way to increase the WAF to at least 90% before that can happen.

I was able to sell my original premium for about $230...I just shelled out some extra bucks for the elite. So if you can get a decent price for your old system, you can probably just upgrade for roughly the cost of a HDD.

It crossed my mind, but I have this:

So I don't think Ill be selling it anytime soon. :)
I checked ebay, but the 120's go fast...and when you add in shipping I might as well just go pick one up at retail. =/

I still can't believe they didn't add the 120 gig with the Halo 360. The Elite was out at the same time. I would have bought the Halo 360 if it had the bigger drive.

You know I wondered the same thing. But I didn't think I would need that much space...but if you DL a lot of stuff it fills up quick. And with Netflix coming out I wanna make sure I have the necessary space.

If you are getting Rock Band 2 and export the Rock Band 1 songs, that is a lot of space right there that makes the 20 gig drive pretty full.

I know it...60 would probably be a good middle ground but I dont think they are selling those by themselves yet...

Yeah, the premiums have a big sticker that advertises 60GB.

That right there is your reason. They keep the price high, so people who want it will buy it, and it makes it worth M$'s time. Thier real reason is to boost console sales. It's the same thing as buying parts for your car. If you bought every part seperately, you'd spend 10x or more than what you bought your car for. And you'd still have a bunch a loose parts that needed put together.
