I have a lot of anger in my heart towards Madden. The feeling must be akin to the feelings one has towards a former spouse. You have those great memories - the good times - but you also have the bitter breakup and angry feelings from when the relationship went south...

Duster, I think the Play it Again, Sam article on the front page is pinned to the top. This recent article is not showing up at the top. Since the GoW Retro Day is done, can you fix it?

And besides that, NCAA games are where it is at. Screw Madden. If i can't play Notre Dame or WVU i don't want to play it!

Wasn't there a post with the exact same title for '08...and that didn't help it suck any less.

If it has a fat jolly guy on the cover that looks like he is proud of his first bowel movement in a week, then it can't be good. :headshake:

Probably. I guess I am just an optimist. Hope springs eternal. And I am ready for the MF'ing football season!

I will admit that a lot of the features sound exciting. The persistent league concept sounds pretty cool. If we could get 10 of us doing that instead of FFL, it would be the shit.

The feature that shows you what you did wrong also sounds cool.

All of the things sound like improvements, but the basic problem for me is that they have made it too complex. I don't expect to pick it up and be good, but I also don't want a 10 hour ramp-up period. Also, give me an option to turn off replays and cut scenes.

The game has definitely gotten pretty complex. To me, most of the complexities are really only for high level players, though. All the hot routes and defensive adjustments make the game a lot more fun once you have mastered the base game. There's nothing more frustrating than picking a play, going up to the line of scrimmage, looking at the opponent and realizing you're screwed and don't have enough time to audible.

The feature that tells you where you f'd up sounds exceptionally promising. A real-time tutorial is awesome in theory.

And the online league sounds like a dream. Even if we just did a 6 man league with a fantasy draft and round robin games it would be a blast.

If they fix the crap from last year (fumbles, especially), count me in for a pre-order.

I just traded in Smash Brothers for Mario Kart and got $45.50 for a game I spent $50 on. You have to know how to work the Gamestop system on these trade-ins.

If they copy the NFL2k5 league system this would be a must buy. NCAA is also suppose to have online Dynasties which would make it a tough choice for me.

I read in Game Informer that the CE comes with NFL Head Coach, a game I have no interest in. BUT, apparently, in NFL Head Coach you can MAKE YOUR OWN PLAYS and import them into Madden!

Suddenly that sounds awesome.

I am so tired of the same 100 lame ass Madden plays. I would love to be able to design my own passes, like I did in Front Page Sports Football back in my DOS days.

BTW, cool Front Page Sports Football Info!

Damn, I might have to buy the CE now because making plays is awesome.

NFL Fever let you make your own plays...best football game ever.

NFL Fever or Front Page Sports Football 98: YOU DECIDE

Making working football plays is nearly impossible. One of the early versions of Madden had that option. I obviously didn't put that much thought into it, but it's hard to make a play where you didn't end up with half your players running into each other.

You could make some kick-ass crazy plays in NFL Fever, especially on defense. They were only good because they fooled the game engine. You could configure just 4 D linemen in a tight column and two of them would always get through to the QB...hmmm...breaking games.
